Wheat stripe rust epidemiology research group profile

Wheat stripe rust is one of the devasting diseases influencing wheat production in the world. Stripe rust is the widespread disease with the high epidemic frequency. We have conducted research on the epidemics, monitoring and prediction of stripe rust, and the molecular mechanism of high temperature resistance to stripe rust in wheat for a long time.

1. Epidemiological research

We performed the race identification, population genetics research, bioinformatics analysis, etc. to analyze the origin and spread of stripe rust, divide the epidemic regions in China, reveal the epidemic rule of stripe rust, and provide a theoretical basis for the precise control of stripe rust.

2. Monitoring and prediction research

We conducted spore trapping, DNA/RNA quantitative analysis, and prediction model construction to establish an early diagnosis and intelligent monitoring and prediction system with the aim to realize real-time monitoring and accurate prediction of stripe rust, which is of great significance to guarantee the green control of stripe rust in China.

3. Molecular mechanism of high-temperature resistance to stripe rust in wheat

We applied bioinformatics, molecular biology, cell biology and other methods to clarify the essential genes and molecular mechanisms of high-temperature all-stage resistance to stripe rust in Xiaoyan 6, which provides genetic resources for wheat breeding.
