Invasive species and plant quarantine research group profile

China is one of the countries that suffers the greatest threat and most losses from alien invasive species. Up to 2020, more than 660 invasive alien species have been discovered nationwide, and 446 quarantine pests have been identified. More than half of the 100 malignant invasive alien species announced by the International Union for Conservation of Nature have invaded China, causing direct economic losses of more than 200 billion. Our research group focus on the identification, monitoring and prediction technology, risk assessment and comprehensive management of invasive alien and quarantine pests in agriculture. The main research directions are:

1. Develop detection technology for alien invasive or quarantine pests with the characteristics of rapidity, sensitivity, high throughput, low cost and good specificity.

2. Focus on important invasive and quarantine pests and carry out risk assessment research.

3. Perform research on formulating targeted control strategies and comprehensive management of crop diseases.
